The European Pork. Pork in Style campaign, co-funded by the European Union and organised by FILPORC and INAPORC, is here to share the facts behind what makes EU pork stand out. With world-class safety, premium taste, and a commitment to sustainability, this is pork made for contemporary dining. 

Safe and Sound 

EU pork producers abide by very strict hygiene and biosecurity standards to ensure the meat is free from antibiotics, hormones, and harmful additives. The EU’s “one step back – one step forward” traceability system guarantees full transparency from farm to fork, providing valuable and reliable product information through the whole production chain and all the way to the final consumer.  

Pure Quality and Natural Growth

The pigs are raised on carefully selected feed consisting of the best ingredients and avoiding completely any kind of artificial enhancements used for growth promotion—no compromises there! In fact, the use of hormones and antibiotics for this purpose has been banned in the EU since 2006, proving once more the EU commitment to clean, responsible farming, ensuring that every cut of EU pork and every piece of charcuterie meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and flavour. 

Sustainability on the Menu 

Sustainability is one of the pillars supporting EU pork production. Responsible Animal Care 

Animal welfare and quality go hand in hand. Caring for the pigs from birth to slaughter not only is a matter of ethics, but it contributes greatly to the quality and flavour of the meat.  The European Convention for the Protection of Animals sets minimum standards for the protection of pigs, including requirements for appropriate housing, access to enrichment materials, and humane handling practices.
